SmartFibre has been designed for the digital microscopic analysis of yarns and fabrics. Images are captured with a digital camera. A unique feature is the quantitative assessment of dye penetration in fibres using proprietary algorithms. The kit includes the accessories required to cut fibre cross-sections and to create 3D-imprints on thermoplastic polymers. The latter is useful, for example, for the analysis of fibre damage. SmartFibre may also be used as a general-purpose tool for quality control.
